Texas A&M Holds Off Auburn 16-10
No. 9 Texas A&M beat Auburn 16-10 at Kyle Field, improving to 4-0 while Auburn fell to 3-2. A&M outgained Auburn 414-177 and relied on a dominant defense that sacked QB Jackson Arnold five times and held the Tigers to 177 yards and 0-for-13 on third down. Xavier Atkins' interception return was a key play that helped stifle Auburn's offense, which struggled with communication, pre-snap and holding penalties. The Aggies were sloppy offensively as well, with 13 penalties for 119 yards and two missed long field goals, but still held on for the win. Auburn coach Hugh Freeze called the performance “unacceptable” and said changes are coming during the bye before a home game against No. 5 Georgia on Oct. 11.
