UEFA Investigates Referee David Coote for Alleged Drug Use

UEFA has launched an investigation into English referee David Coote after a video surfaced allegedly showing him snorting cocaine during Euro 2024. This follows his suspension by the PGMOL after a separate video emerged in which he made derogatory remarks about former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp. Coote, who served as a video review specialist in the tournament, was filmed using a rolled-up banknote to snort a white powder, reportedly captured in his hotel room. The UEFA statement confirmed that an ethics and disciplinary inspector has been appointed to assess potential violations of its regulations. Coote has already been withdrawn from officiating national team matches pending the outcome of these investigations. Both UEFA and the PGMOL have indicated they take these allegations very seriously and are committed to providing support to Coote during this period.
