Uber Hires Rebecca Tinucci as Sustainability Head

Uber has appointed former Tesla executive Rebecca Tinucci as its new global head of sustainability, effective September 16. Tinucci, who played a crucial role in expanding Tesla's Supercharger network, will oversee Uber's transition to a fully electric platform with the aim of achieving zero-emission rides and deliveries globally by 2040. Reporting to Andrew Macdonald, Tinucci will also focus on reducing plastic waste from restaurant deliveries and using more sustainable packaging. Her appointment comes after she and her entire team were laid off by Elon Musk due to broader job cuts at Tesla. Uber is partnering with various electric-car makers and charging network providers, including Chinese carmaker BYD, to support this transition. Tinucci’s extensive experience is expected to be a significant asset in accelerating Uber’s sustainability goals.
