Hill claims the suspension was influenced by public reaction rather than his flying errors, but the CAA maintains the decision was based on evidence of gross negligence. Despite being acquitted of manslaughter, a coroner later determined the victims were unlawfully killed due to Hill's errors. The families of the victims strongly oppose his appeal, arguing he should not fly again. The appeal is being heard by a CAA panel in London, and Hill's defence contends that the decision to suspend his licence would have been the same even without fatalities, according to the CAA official's testimony.
