Two Survive Small Plane Crash in Chattanooga

A single-engine plane crash occurred on Shallowford Road near Chattanooga Airport during rush hour, resulting in the survival of both occupants aboard. The Chattanooga Fire Department reported that the plane's engine failed, leading to the crash about half a mile from the runway. One occupant was able to exit the aircraft unaided, while the second had to be extricated by emergency crews; both were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. In response to the incident, Shallowford Road has been closed between Airport and Cromwell roads for rescue efforts and a Federal Aviation Administration investigation. This incident marks the second plane crash in Chattanooga in just over a year, following a cargo plane incident in October 2023 that resulted in no injuries. Authorities recommend avoiding the area and using alternative routes.
