Uber, Waymo Give Select Atlanta Riders Early Robotaxi Access
Waymo and Uber have launched an early access program for Waymo's autonomous robotaxi rides in Atlanta, following their initial launch in Austin. Selected users from an interest list will receive $10 in Uber credits and are encouraged to provide feedback to help refine the service ahead of its planned public launch this summer. The service will operate exclusively through the Uber app, covering a 65-square-mile area including downtown Atlanta, Buckhead, and Capitol View. Under the partnership, Uber manages vehicle maintenance, charging, cleaning, and app access, while Waymo oversees the autonomous driving technology and operations. This rollout marks Atlanta as the second city after Austin where Waymo’s driverless cars are integrated with Uber's platform, with plans to expand the service area over time. The companies have not yet disclosed the number of participants in the early access program or the exact date of the full public launch.
