Punjab Police Arrest Nine Across Multiple Districts Seizing Over 20kg Heroin

Law enforcement agencies in Punjab, India, have made significant arrests and seizures targeting a cross-border heroin smuggling cartel operating in the Tarn Taran and Amritsar regions. Punjab Police arrested four key suspects, including a father-son duo, Gurbhej Singh and Gurdit Singh, along with Malkit Singh and Gurjit Singh, recovering a total of 12 kg of heroin, a pistol, and a magazine. Earlier, police had busted another cell with the arrest of notorious drug smuggler Soni Singh and associates, seizing 8.1 kg of heroin. Investigations revealed that the smugglers maintained communication with Pakistan-based traffickers via WhatsApp and used drone drop-offs near the border to receive consignments, hiding heroin in cattle sheds and earthen pits. The Border Security Force also conducted multiple operations, apprehending smugglers, seizing heroin, pistols, and drones, emphasizing the ongoing efforts to secure the border and combat narco-terrorism. Authorities anticipate further arrests and seizures as investigations continue to dismantle the entire network.
