Coast Guard Searches for Capsized Fishing Boat

The U.S. Coast Guard is conducting a search operation for five crew members following the capsizing of the fishing vessel Wind Walker near Juneau, Alaska, early Sunday morning. The boat, approximately 52 feet long, sent a mayday call just after midnight, indicating it was overturning, but subsequent attempts to communicate with the crew were unsuccessful. The Coast Guard deployed multiple rescue assets, including the ferry AMHS Hubbard, helicopters, and response vessels, to the last known location of the Wind Walker. So far, only seven survival suits and two strobe lights have been recovered, while reports of victims being found have proven incorrect. Weather conditions during the search have been severe, with heavy snow, winds up to 60 mph, and rough seas complicating efforts.
