Youth Pastor Dies in Queensland Shark Attack

Luke Walford, a 40-year-old youth pastor from Rockhampton, was killed by a shark while fishing with his family near Humpy Island in Australia's Great Barrier Reef. The incident occurred on a Saturday afternoon, with the shark inflicting a fatal neck wound. Despite paramedics' efforts, Walford succumbed to his injuries shortly before 6 pm. Authorities have not confirmed if he was spearfishing at the time, and a report will be prepared for the coroner. Humpy Island, a popular site for camping and snorkeling, is part of the Keppel Bay Islands National Park. This attack follows several other shark incidents in Australia, with over 250 fatalities recorded since 1791.
