Zelensky Proposes POW Exchange with North Korea

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced that Ukraine is prepared to negotiate the return of captured North Korean soldiers in exchange for Ukrainian prisoners of war held in Russia. Following the announcement of capturing two North Korean soldiers in Russia's Kursk region, Zelensky indicated that there would likely be more captures in the future, as thousands of North Korean troops support Russian forces. The captured soldiers are currently receiving medical care in Ukraine, and a video of their interrogation has been shared, revealing differing wishes regarding their return to North Korea. Zelensky emphasized the possibility of alternative paths for North Korean soldiers who do not want to return, including opportunities to spread awareness about the war. He reiterated that the Russian military is reliant on North Korean support and called for transparency regarding the situation. Estimates suggest around 11,000 North Korean soldiers are deployed in the region, contributing to heavy casualties among their ranks.
