Sphere Unveils Immersive 'Wizard of Oz' Experience Opening August 28, 2025

The Sphere in Las Vegas is set to present a reimagined version of the 1939 classic 'The Wizard of Oz' starting August 28, 2025, in collaboration with Warner Bros. Discovery, Google, and Magnopus. This immersive experience promises to enhance the film with advanced technology, including spatial audio and haptic seating, while maintaining the original's integrity, although the film's runtime will be reduced from 101 to 80 minutes. Additionally, a new documentary titled 'From the Edge,' directed by Oscar winners E. Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin, will debut in 2026, featuring extreme athletes like Alex Honnold and Alenka Artnik. Both projects are part of Sphere Entertainment's strategy to diversify its offerings beyond concerts, which initially included U2 and Darren Aronofsky's 'Postcard from Earth.' While ticket prices for these experiences have not yet been announced, the Sphere aims to leverage its unique capabilities to create memorable entertainment. Sphere CEO Jim Dolan emphasized the goal of pushing the boundaries of experiential media with these productions.
