Australia Opens Yearly Holiday Visa for Indians

Australia has introduced a new Working Holiday Maker visa program, allowing up to 1,000 young Indian citizens aged 18 to 30 to work, study, and travel in the country for 12 months annually. This program, part of the Australia-India Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (AI-ECTA), aims to enhance cultural and economic ties between the two nations. The visa application process, which began on October 1, 2024, has already attracted 40,000 applicants for the limited spots. Successful candidates will be chosen through a random ballot process and can start their stay in Australia next year. The initiative offers participants the flexibility to work in various sectors, including hospitality and agriculture, while also allowing them to pursue short-term studies. This move is seen as a step towards strengthening bilateral relationships and creating future opportunities for student or skilled worker visas.
