The Kinston Police Department is actively searching for 34-year-old Tabias Jones, identified as the suspect in a break-in at Tony’s Friendly Mart on Dr. MLK Jr. Boulevard. Jones faces charges including breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering, and property damage. In separate incidents on August 3, two individuals were arrested after police pursuits in Kinston. Kortez Hart, 36, was apprehended following a brief chase on East Blount Street and charged with driving without a license, fleeing to elude arrest, and other traffic violations; his vehicle was seized under North Carolina's "Flee to Elude" law. Similarly, Kia Taylor, 34, was arrested after a low-speed pursuit on East Washington Avenue during which a juvenile was found in the vehicle; Taylor faces multiple charges and her vehicle was also seized under the same state law. Authorities continue to seek information from the public regarding these cases.
