Citi expands Asia, North America teams with senior hires
Citigroup is expanding its investment banking leadership in Asia with several key senior appointments to strengthen its presence in debt capital markets and global asset management. Vikram Chavali, formerly head of Asia ex-Japan Sponsors M&A at Goldman Sachs, has been named managing director and head of global asset managers for Japan, Asia North, Australia, and Asia South, based in Hong Kong. Deepak Dangayach, previously head of sponsor financing for APAC at Deutsche Bank, will join as managing director and co-head of debt capital markets for the same regions alongside Adrian Khoo, who expands his current role at Citi. These hires reflect Citi's focus on capturing increased demand for private and structured credit solutions across Asia. In North America, Citi also appointed Aashish Dhakad as head of private credit origination, aiming to grow its share in the lucrative private credit market by leveraging partnerships and expanding beyond traditional buyout financing. Overall, Citi's recruitment drive underlines its strategic push to enhance capabilities in private credit, asset management, and debt markets globally.
