John Voloshin Sentenced for Fraud Crimes
John Voloshin, a 69-year-old serial fraudster also known as 'Josh Thomas', has been sentenced to 41 months in prison, already served, along with three years of supervised release, including the first six months in a halfway house. His recent conviction stems from a scheme between January and April 2019, where he defrauded a Bloomfield accounting firm of over $56,000 by stealing blank checks and forging signatures. Voloshin's extensive criminal history includes multiple prison sentences since 2012 for various financial crimes, collectively causing over $1.5 million in losses. He was arrested in Brazil in 2021 while on a federal warrant and has been in custody since then. Despite previous convictions and restitution orders, he continued to engage in fraudulent activities, including fabricating employment to mislead his probation officer. This case highlights the ongoing challenges posed by repeat offenders in financial crime.
