Nintendo Switch 2 Launches June 5 With Major Titles

Nintendo reported a 43% decline in profit for the fiscal year ending March 2024 due to waning demand for the original Switch console. The company anticipates a strong recovery with the June 5 launch of the Switch 2, projecting sales of 15 million units and an 8% profit increase in the next fiscal year. The Switch 2 will feature a robust lineup of first- and third-party games, including the entire Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy, as confirmed by director Naoki Hamaguchi, in addition to titles like Cyberpunk 2077, Elden Ring, Metroid Prime 4, and Mario Kart World. Developers expect even more third-party games to arrive, reflecting growing industry support. Nintendo is also expanding its retail and entertainment footprint with a new store in San Francisco and Super Nintendo World in Orlando. These combined efforts are part of Nintendo's strategy to drive growth and reestablish momentum in the gaming market.
