Warner Bros to Open Largest Harry Potter Tour in Shanghai

Warner Bros. Discovery Inc., in partnership with Jinjiang International, plans to open its largest Making of Harry Potter studio tour in Shanghai by 2027, subject to regulatory approval. The studio tour, spanning over 53,000 square meters, will be located at the redeveloped Jinjiang Amusement Park and will offer a self-guided experience showcasing behind-the-scenes aspects of the Harry Potter films, such as sets, props, and costumes. This Shanghai site will be the third of its kind globally, following existing locations in London and Tokyo. The project reflects Warner Bros.' strategy to expand the Harry Potter franchise beyond films and tap into China's significant consumer market, where the franchise is immensely popular. The development is part of broader efforts by international theme park operators to gain a foothold in China, which is increasingly focused on boosting domestic consumption. The Harry Potter series, including all eight films, was re-released in China in 2023, underscoring its enduring appeal in the region.
