Spain Hosts Diplomatic Meeting on Two-State Solution

Spain hosted a high-level diplomatic meeting in Madrid to advance the two-state solution for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, amid ongoing violence in Gaza that began with Hamas’s attack on Israel on October 7. Attendees included representatives from the EU, various European countries, and members of the Arab-Islamic Contact Group for Gaza. Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares emphasized the urgency of implementing a clear schedule for the two-state solution, which is seen as the only viable path to peace. Notably absent from the meeting was Israel, which faced international condemnation for a recent strike on a UN-run school in Gaza. The discussions aimed to transition from words to actionable steps, including Palestine's potential UN membership.
