Yankees Call Up Top Prospect Jasson Dominguez

The New York Yankees have called up top prospect Jasson Dominguez from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, responding to fan pressure and the need for offensive depth as they compete in a tight AL East race against the Baltimore Orioles. Dominguez, who recently recovered from Tommy John surgery and an oblique strain, had been performing exceptionally well in the minors, batting .314 with 11 home runs in 53 games. The move comes after a contentious decision to initially promote outfielder Duke Ellis when rosters expanded on September 1. Alex Verdugo, who has struggled offensively since mid-June, will likely see reduced playing time.
