Cleveland Police Officer Leanne Counter Sacked for Assaulting Mother

Following a chaotic family Christmas on Boxing Day 2023, Counter's behavior became so disruptive that her sister ejected her from their home, leading her mother to attempt to ensure her safety. During a taxi ride, Counter's aggression escalated, prompting the driver to abandon them at a service station after witnessing her yelling and physically assaulting her mother. Witness Lewis Failes recounted the scene, noting that both women had been drinking, with Counter being significantly more inebriated. The panel concluded that her actions constituted discreditable conduct, resulting in her immediate termination and a lifetime ban from policing. Counter expressed no recollection of the incident, acknowledging that the accounts of others must be true.
