Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan Win Greco-Roman Wrestling World Titles in Zagreb

At the 2025 World Wrestling Championships in Zagreb, Croatia, several notable achievements were made in Greco-Roman wrestling. Kazakhstan's Aidos Sultangali won the gold medal in the 60-kilogram category, marking Kazakhstan's first Greco-Roman world championship gold of the 21st century, with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev congratulating him on this historic victory. Uzbekistan ended a 24-year gold medal drought in Greco-Roman wrestling with 19-year-old Aytzhan Khalmakhanov taking gold in the 63 kg division, while other Uzbek wrestlers also earned silver and bronze medals, helping their team finish third overall in Greco-Roman wrestling. Azerbaijani wrestler Ulvu Ganizade became a two-time world champion by winning gold in the 72 kg category, and his compatriot Murad Ahmadiyev took bronze in the 97 kg class.
