Police Officer Wounded, Attacker Killed in Jerusalem Old City Stabbing

A stabbing attack took place at the Chain Gate entrance to the Temple Mount in Jerusalem's Old City, where a 25-year-old Israeli police officer was wounded by a 17-year-old assailant from Beit Hanina. The officer was stabbed in the back during a routine inspection and was evacuated to the hospital in moderate condition. Israeli forces at the scene responded swiftly, shooting and neutralizing the attacker who was pronounced dead. Jerusalem District Police Commander Major General Amir Arzani praised the officers' quick and courageous response amid ongoing security threats in the area. The investigation into the incident has been transferred to the Jerusalem District’s central unit. The attack occurred at a highly sensitive site revered by both Muslims and Jews, highlighting the persistent tensions in East Jerusalem.
