Illinois Defeats Central Michigan 30-9

The Illinois Fighting Illini improved to a 3-0 record this season with a 30-9 victory over Central Michigan, marking their best start since 2011. Quarterback Luke Altmyer threw for 242 yards and two touchdowns, both to Pat Bryant, who had seven receptions for 102 yards. Kicker Ethan Moczulski set a school record with a 59-yard field goal. The Illini defense, led by versatile defensive back Xavier Scott, forced one interception and numerous punts. Despite a solid performance, Illinois committed ten penalties for 81 yards, which could be problematic against stronger teams. Illinois will next face the #23 Nebraska Cornhuskers on the road.
