Marvel Explores Return of Defenders Characters to MCU

Marvel's head of streaming, TV, and animation, Brad Winderbaum, has revealed that the company is exploring the possibility of bringing back characters from the Netflix series, The Defenders, including Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). This comes ahead of the premiere of Daredevil: Born Again, which has already confirmed the return of Charlie Cox as Daredevil and Jon Bernthal as Punisher. Winderbaum emphasized the excitement of 'playing in that sandbox' while acknowledging the challenges of production scale and actor availability. He indicated that despite the limitations compared to comic storytelling, the creative team is very much interested in revisiting these characters. Krysten Ritter has expressed her eagerness to reprise her role as Jessica Jones, fueling speculation about a potential reunion of the Defenders. The revival of these characters marks a shift in Marvel's approach, suggesting a more integrated universe between their past Netflix collaborations and the current MCU.
