Westchester County Social Worker Dies After Brutal Attack

Maria Coto, a 56-year-old social worker from Westchester County, has died after being brutally beaten during a home visit in Peekskill last month. Coto was on life support following the attack by 31-year-old Haseem Jenkins, who has been charged with attempted murder and assault. Jenkins attacked Coto after she mistakenly knocked on his door, repeatedly punching and kicking her with heavy boots. The Westchester County District Attorney’s Office plans to pursue further charges in light of Coto’s death.
