Charlotte Mom Arrested After Firing Shots Into Air at Back-to-School Event

Cherez Davis, a mother in Charlotte, North Carolina, was arrested after firing two shots into the air to break up a fight involving her son at a back-to-school health fair at the C.W. Williams Community Health Center. The incident caused panic among over 100 attendees, including children, some of whom ran into nearby traffic, but no injuries were reported. Davis allegedly pulled a Taurus G6 handgun from her backpack and fired after the altercation escalated when another adult intervened. Police quickly located and detained Davis, recovering the firearm as evidence. She was charged with carrying a concealed weapon and going armed to the terror of the people and held on a $50,000 bond.
