Romy and Michele Sequel Nears Greenlight

Mira Sorvino has provided an optimistic update regarding the sequel to the 1997 cult classic 'Romy and Michele's High School Reunion', stating it is 'so close to being greenlit'. Both Sorvino and co-star Lisa Kudrow are confirmed to return and serve as executive producers, with a director already secured. The original screenwriter, Robin Schiff, has written several drafts of a script that Sorvino claims meets fan expectations. Additionally, nearly all of the original cast members are expected to return, pending deal confirmations. While production is rumored to start in the second quarter of next year, Sorvino emphasized that the project is not yet officially greenlit. The original film, directed by David Mirkin, gained a loyal following over the years, despite its modest box office performance upon release.
