Seminole Towne Center Redevelopment Begins January 31

The Seminole Towne Center in Sanford, Florida, will close most of its interior stores by January 31, as part of a significant redevelopment project. Despite the mall's closure, major anchor stores like Dillard's, JC Penney, Dick's Sporting Goods, and Elev8 Fun will remain open, since they occupy separately owned parcels. The redevelopment aims to transform the site into a mixed-use complex featuring residential, commercial, and entertainment spaces, including restaurants and possibly a new Costco location. This project, spearheaded by Sanford city officials and new investors, is the largest of its kind in Seminole County's history, with hopes for completion in three to four years. Although the initial developer, Gilbane Company, is no longer leading the project, the city is optimistic about finalizing a new deal soon. The site's redevelopment is expected to significantly increase its assessed value, reflecting its prime location near major highways.
