DraftKings has been fined a total of $22,500 by Connecticut's Department of Consumer Protection for a glitch in its online slot game, 'Deal or No Deal Banker's Bonanza', which failed to produce any wins over more than 20,600 spins during its launch week in August 2023. The investigation revealed that 522 players wagered approximately $24,000 without receiving any payouts, despite the game being advertised with a nearly 95% return-to-player rate. DraftKings refunded the affected players a total of $23,909 but did not initially inform them of the glitch. The problem was traced back to a software issue that led to the game being incapable of generating winning combinations. Both DraftKings and the game's developer, White Hat Gaming, have agreed to implement stricter internal controls to prevent such occurrences in the future. The incident has highlighted the need for regulatory oversight in the rapidly expanding iGaming sector in Connecticut.
