Multiple Wrong-Way Drivers Arrested in Vermont and New Hampshire Interstate Incidents

Two separate wrong-way driving incidents involving Vermont residents occurred recently on interstate highways in the region. Heather Rushford, 44, from Colchester, Vermont, was arrested after driving the wrong way on Interstate 89 in South Burlington and causing a head-on crash with minor injuries to both drivers; she was charged with grossly negligent operation and had an active warrant related to a prior hit-and-run case. In a separate incident, Benjamin Mueller, 36, of White River Junction, Vermont, was arrested for driving the wrong way on Interstate 293 in Bedford, New Hampshire; he was charged with reckless driving and felony reckless conduct with a deadly weapon, but no injuries were reported. Both individuals were scheduled to appear in court in November to answer to the new charges. These incidents highlight ongoing concerns about wrong-way driving and highway safety in the region.
