Man City Fined £1.08m for Kick-Off Delays

Manchester City has been fined £1.08 million ($1.35 million) by the Premier League for delayed kick-offs and restarts on nine occasions during the 2024/25 season. The club admitted to the violations, apologized, and has reminded players and staff of their responsibilities. Across the season, the delays totaled nearly 19 minutes, with the most significant being a 2-minute 24-second delay during the Manchester derby. This sanction follows a previous fine of over £2 million for similar breaches in the prior season. The Premier League stressed that these rules are important for upholding professional standards and maintaining broadcast schedules. These infractions are unrelated to the ongoing investigation into more than 100 alleged financial breaches by Manchester City, which the club denies.
