Green Day Releases Trailer for Punk Road Trip Film Premiering TIFF
Green Day has released a teaser trailer for their upcoming coming-of-age comedy film, New Years Rev, which follows three young punk musicians who mistakenly believe they will open for Green Day's New Year's Eve concert and embark on a road trip to California. The film is inspired by Green Day’s early days of touring and living in a van, capturing the rebellious, adventurous spirit of the band’s formative years. Starring Mason Thames, Kylr Coffman, and Ryan Foust, the cast also includes Jenna Fischer, Angela Kinsey, Fred Armisen, Bobby Lee, Sean Gunn, and McKenna Grace, with Lee Kirk directing and writing. The teaser features Green Day’s song "Holiday" from their 2003 album American Idiot and showcases scenes of the band’s journey, mishaps, and live performances. New Years Rev is set to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 12, with Green Day serving as executive producers. Billie Joe Armstrong highlighted the electric bond formed on tour, emphasizing the film’s celebration of music, camaraderie, and youthful mischief.
