Liverpool Increase Bid for Wirtz, Sign Frimpong

Liverpool have increased their bid for Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz to £113 million, including £100 million guaranteed and £13 million in add-ons, but this still falls short of Leverkusen’s £126-£150 million valuation. Wirtz, the Bundesliga Player of the Year after leading Leverkusen to their first league title, has expressed a strong desire to join Liverpool despite interest from Bayern Munich and Manchester City. Liverpool have also secured the £29 million signing of Leverkusen teammate Jeremie Frimpong and are negotiating with Bournemouth for left-back Milos Kerkez, with their summer transfer outlay potentially approaching £200 million. If Wirtz’s transfer is completed at Leverkusen’s full asking price, he would become the most expensive signing in British football, and his former club Koln would receive over £5 million in training compensation. Wirtz is currently on international duty with Germany and is already preparing for a move to England. Negotiations between Liverpool and Leverkusen are ongoing.
