Angels' Zach Neto Sets Franchise Home Run Record in 7-4 Win Over Dodgers
Zach Neto delivered a standout performance for the Los Angeles Angels in their 7-4 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers, hitting two solo home runs including a record-setting leadoff homer off Dodgers starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto. Neto's first-pitch home run marked his eighth leadoff homer of the season, breaking the Angels' single-season record previously held since 1987, and his second shot in the sixth inning gave him his first multi-homer game of the campaign. Neto went 3-for-3 with two walks and has shown a resurgence in power, hitting four home runs in his last eight games and holding a solid .272/.329/.481 slash line this season. The Angels scored early and often, with contributions from Mike Trout and Yoán Moncada, and despite Dodgers’ Shohei Ohtani hitting his 42nd home run, the Angels maintained their lead. This win marked the Angels' fifth straight over the Dodgers, their longest Freeway Series winning streak since 2010, as Neto moved into second place on the franchise's all-time home run list for shortstops. Both teams entered the game with differing playoff prospects, with the Angels struggling in the AL West and the Dodgers holding a narrow division lead in the NL West.
