Coast Guard crews successfully rescued two boaters, a father and son, from their disabled vessel, Kraken Up, approximately 11 nautical miles north of St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, after it suffered an electrical fire. The Coast Guard received a Mayday call and dispatched a helicopter and boat, which confirmed that the vessel was not taking on water and towed it safely to Green Cay Marina. Meanwhile, another rescue operation occurred off Crystal River, Florida, where a man was saved from a sinking boat due to a crack in the hull. He was lifted from the water by a Coast Guard helicopter after he sent a distress call. Both individuals in these incidents were unharmed, with the successful rescues attributed to proper safety measures, including life jackets and marine radios.
