Aimee Betro faces murder conspiracy charges in Birmingham

Aimee Betro, a 45-year-old woman from Wisconsin, has been charged in the UK with conspiracy to murder a Birmingham clothing shop owner and his family, stemming from a plot dating back to September 8, 2019. She was extradited from Armenia, where she was arrested last summer, and has also been charged with possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and involvement in the importation of ammunition into the UK. Betro was flown into Gatwick Airport by National Extradition Unit officers and is set to appear at Birmingham Magistrates' Court. The Crown Prosecution Service emphasized that the criminal proceedings are active and that she retains the right to a fair trial. A man was reportedly threatened with a gun during the incident, but he escaped unharmed after the weapon jammed. Prosecutors have worked closely with various authorities to ensure her return to face charges in the UK.
