Electronic Arts (EA) has confirmed the development of a movie adaptation of its popular video game series, The Sims, in collaboration with Amazon MGM Studios, LuckyChap Entertainment, and Vertigo Entertainment. The film will be directed by Kate Herron and co-written with Briony Redman, promising to incorporate iconic elements from the game such as Freezer Bunnies and potentially Simlish language. EA aims for the movie to have a cultural impact similar to the recent Barbie film, reflecting the game's rich history and nostalgia. Meanwhile, EA will continue to support The Sims 4 with expansions and updates while exploring new ideas through Project Rene, which offers a shared world experience and will undergo a playtest later this year. Project Rene will not replace The Sims 4 but will introduce modernized multiplayer and cross-platform features.
