Freight Train Collides with Bus in Atlacomulco, Mexico, Killing 10, Injuring 41
A freight train collided with a double-decker passenger bus operated by the Herradura de Plata line in Atlacomulco, northwest of Mexico City, resulting in at least 10 deaths and over 40 injuries. The train, operated by Canadian Pacific Kansas City de México, struck the bus as it was crossing the tracks on the Atlacomulco–Maravatío federal highway, with security footage showing the bus moving slowly in heavy traffic before the collision. The bus's roof was torn off, and the impact was most severe on the upper deck, with the bus being dragged down the tracks. Authorities arrested the bus driver, and investigations are ongoing to determine the cause, including assessment of the bus driver's accountability and crossing safety measures, which reportedly lacked gates or signals. Emergency services responded promptly, transporting injured victims to local hospitals, some in critical condition. Both the railway operator and local officials expressed condolences and committed to cooperating with investigations into the tragic accident.
