New Tyner Middle High Academy Opens with 1,100 Students

Several school districts across the country are welcoming students and staff as the new academic year begins, marking a period of significant change and growth. Mt. Vernon introduced a new 118,000-square-foot elementary school while reorganizing grade levels and repurposing existing buildings to better serve students, with principals actively engaging in the transition. Jefferson City School District welcomed around 100 new teachers, emphasizing community integration and professional development through a Rotary Club-hosted luncheon. At Tyner Middle High Academy, a long-overdue $96 million new facility replaced outdated buildings, featuring enhanced amenities such as a large media center and expanded gymnasiums, partly funded by federal ESSER funds. These developments reflect broader efforts to improve educational environments, address growing student populations, and support both students and staff as they embark on the school year.
