Lui Che Woo, the founder and chairman of Galaxy Entertainment Group, passed away peacefully at the age of 95 on November 7, 2024. A prominent figure in Macau's casino industry, Lui was instrumental in establishing Galaxy Macau, which significantly contributed to the group’s growth and success. His leadership helped Galaxy Entertainment secure one of the first casino licenses in Macau in 2002, expanding the company's reach to six casinos in the region. Lui also chaired K. Wah International Holdings, a property development firm, and was recognized as one of Hong Kong's richest individuals, ranking seventh on Forbes' list with a net worth of about $12 billion. The company announced that operations would continue under the strategies he laid out, with a new chairman to be appointed in due course. He is survived by his wife and five children, and his legacy includes numerous contributions to both Hong Kong and the gaming industry.
