Greenpeace Blocks Ineos Shipment in Bridge Protest

Ten Greenpeace activists abseiled from the Forth Road Bridge to block a shipment of fracked ethane gas headed for Ineos's Grangemouth plant, demanding action on plastic pollution. The protest targeted Ineos and owner Jim Ratcliffe for allegedly lobbying against a proposed UN treaty aimed at reducing global plastic pollution by 75% by 2040. Police Scotland closed the bridge to all vehicles and advised the public to use the Queensferry Crossing instead. Greenpeace stated that the demonstration was peaceful, with comprehensive safety measures in place. The action took place ahead of a key UN meeting in Geneva where global plastic production limits are to be debated. Activists plan to remain suspended for 24 hours to draw attention to the issue.
