Vietnam Evacuates 250,000 Ahead of Typhoon Bualoi Landfall
Vietnam is bracing for Typhoon Bualoi, which is expected to make landfall in central provinces with wind speeds reaching up to 133 km/h, causing heavy rains, flooding, landslides, and storm surges. Authorities have evacuated over 250,000 residents, particularly in central cities like Da Nang and Hue, and thousands more in coastal areas such as Ha Tinh, a key steel production hub. Four coastal airports, including Da Nang International Airport, have suspended operations, and fishing boats have been ordered back to harbor to prevent casualties. The storm is moving faster than anticipated, prompting early evacuations and deployment of over 240,000 soldiers to assist in relief efforts. Typhoon Bualoi follows recent deadly storms in the region, highlighting concerns over climate change intensifying such natural disasters. Local authorities continue to monitor the situation closely, preparing for significant impacts across northern and central Vietnam until early October.
