D.C. Shootings Increase Homicide Rate by 21%
A series of violent incidents in Washington, D.C., resulted in multiple casualties, including a police shooting on Tuesday where a man was fatally shot after crashing into a police cruiser and attempting to take an officer’s gun. On Sunday, two men were killed and a third injured in a shooting at a residential building on Minnesota Avenue NE, while a separate shooting in the southeast left a young girl injured. In total, Sunday's events resulted in three deaths and three injuries, with no arrests made so far. This rise in violence contributes to a 21% increase in homicides in D.C. compared to the previous year. The Metropolitan Police Department continues to investigate the incidents and offers a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
