Prayagraj is facing severe flooding as water levels in the Ganga and Yamuna rivers continue to rise, with the Ganga reaching 84.07m, just below the danger level of 84.734m. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has been deployed for rescue operations, with over 1,300 people relocated to relief camps as floodwaters inundate numerous localities, affecting approximately 6,000 individuals from 1,050 families. In addition to Prayagraj, at least 11 districts in Uttar Pradesh have been impacted, resulting in 17 fatalities and significant property damage, with over 3,000 houses reported as damaged. The ongoing heavy rainfall has also caused the water level of the Saryu river in Ayodhya to surpass danger levels, prompting temporary suspension of boat services in Varanasi. Relief efforts include financial assistance from the Uttar Pradesh government to families of the deceased and those affected by the floods. Local authorities are on high alert, with flood relief camps established to support those displaced by the rising waters.
