Multiple Women Killed in Hit-and-Runs Toronto, Detroit, San Diego
Multiple fatal hit-and-run incidents have recently occurred in different U.S. and Canadian cities, prompting police investigations and public appeals for information. In Toronto, an 82-year-old woman was struck by a white van while crossing a driveway near Brunel Court and Fort York Boulevard on July 27; she died in the hospital on August 8, and police are seeking witnesses and dashcam footage. Similarly, on Detroit's west side, a woman in her 30s was hit in a crosswalk around 9:20 p.m. by one or two vehicles that fled the scene, with no arrests reported yet. In San Diego, Harbor Police responded to a fatal hit-and-run late Friday night on North Harbor Drive, where an unidentified woman was found with severe injuries and died at the scene; the suspect vehicle is believed to have sustained front-end damage, and authorities are requesting public assistance to identify the driver and vehicle. These incidents highlight ongoing concerns about pedestrian safety and the challenges law enforcement faces in hit-and-run cases.
