South Korea’s Lotteria Opens First US, Plans Malaysia Expansion

Lotte Plaza Market is set to open a new 45,799-square-foot Asian supermarket in Jacksonville, Florida, on September 12, 2025, featuring grocery, meat, seafood, produce, and a food court with at least seven vendor stations. The Maryland-based company, founded in 1976, operates 16 stores across several states and aims to expand to 50 locations by 2030. Meanwhile, Lotte Group's fast-food subsidiary, Lotte GRS, is launching its Lotteria burger chain in Malaysia through a master franchise agreement with Serai Group, with plans to open the first outlet in 2025 and expand to 30 more within five years. Lotte GRS also plans to debut its first U.S. Lotteria location in Orange County, California, in August 2025, marking the brand's entry into the American market. The U.S. Lotteria outlet in Fullerton will offer popular Korean-inspired menu items like the Bulgogi Burger and Shrimp Burger, with hopes for further expansion. These developments reflect Lotte's broader strategy to grow both its grocery and fast-food presence domestically and internationally.
