Funeral for Deputy Hector Cuevas Jr. Held in Ontario

San Bernardino County Sheriff's Deputy Hector Cuevas Jr., 36, was killed in a crash during a high-speed pursuit of a stolen vehicle in Victorville on March 17. The collision, which occurred at the intersection of Seneca and El Evado roads, resulted in his patrol vehicle splitting in half and Cuevas dying at the scene. A funeral service and procession were held Thursday, with the public invited to pay their respects along the procession route and the ceremony livestreamed for broader community participation. Cuevas, described as a dedicated family man and a 'cop’s cop,' served at the Victorville City Sheriff's Station for three years, leaving behind a wife, two children, and extended family. The suspect, 22-year-old Ryan Dwayne Turner Jr., was charged with second-degree murder, evading law enforcement, and vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. Cuevas is remembered for his positive impact on the community and his colleagues.
