Suspect Killed During LAPD Chase on 110 Freeway

A man suspected of stealing a van led officers from the LAPD’s Newton Division on a chase through downtown Los Angeles onto the 110 Freeway near Avenue 43 in the Highland Park/Chinatown area Monday night. As the van slowed, he climbed out the driver-side window onto the center median, fell into oncoming southbound lanes and was struck by at least two vehicles; he was later pronounced dead at the scene after officers attempted life-saving measures.
