Lecce Sacks Coach Luca Gotti After Draw

Lecce Football Club has officially parted ways with head coach Luca Gotti following a disappointing run of results that left the team in the relegation zone of Serie A. After a 1-1 draw against Empoli, Lecce sits 18th in the standings with only nine points from 12 matches, marking a significant decline since Gotti took over in March 2024. The club acknowledged Gotti's efforts but determined that a change was necessary to address the lack of offensive output and weak defense, having scored just five goals and conceded 21. Gotti, previously the assistant coach at Chelsea, was brought in to replace Roberto D'Aversa, who ironically now manages Empoli. Despite a 14th place finish last season, Gotti could not replicate that success this term, prompting the club's decision to dismiss him.
