OSU Extends Athletic Director Weiberg Through 2029
Oklahoma State’s Board of Regents approved a new four-year contract for athletic director Chad Weiberg that runs through Dec. 31, 2029, keeping his base salary at $750,000 and adding incentives tied to athletic department financial goals and team performance. The vote at the regents’ meeting in Warner/Connors State College formalized Weiberg’s position after he had been working without a contract since the end of June. Weiberg, hired in 2021, has served on the NCAA Division I basketball committee and recently recovered from open-heart surgery. He is leading the search for OSU’s next head football coach following the firing of longtime coach Mike Gundy, and the extension is intended to provide continuity and reassure coaching candidates and other stakeholders. OSU President Jim Hess praised Weiberg for steady leadership during a transformative period in college athletics.
